Maker's Bakers

On the seventh day, I wandered into Findlay Market. And behold, there was focaccia. And I saw that it was thick. …@makersbakersco is located in the heart of Findlay Market, and I have enjoyed their desserts in the past. But on a recent Saturday morning, I noticed their focaccia pizza on display and reasoned that I ought to give one a try (making it the 152nd Cincinnati pizza entry on SliceIndex.com).

I went with the tomato, garlic, and cheese, a remarkably thick slab of focaccia topped with melted cheese and roasted tomatoes. The toppings had a nice flavor, but the crust was truly extraordinary. Pleasantly airy, the dough was extremely thick and breadlike, though with little of the crispness or contrast in texture I sometimes appreciate in a bakery square slice. It was, in essence, a substantial hunk of well-made bakery bread.

I ended up eating half for breakfast and the other half for lunch. As pizza, it was perhaps disproportionately bread. As an economical means of feeding oneself, however, it was an excellent deal.
