Red Light

“D.C.’s first Detroit-style pizzeria” on 14th St in our nation’s capital’s former red light district. Red Light is the best pizza I’ve had in DC and really a top tier place nationally for me. The crust has a buttery flavor, likely from a generous allotment of melted Detroit brick cheese. They use a 24hr slow rise for the dough which leads to a crust that is airy, yet crisp throughout …so a bit less dense than traditional Detroit-style, but with a well-caramelized cheese exterior - it was incredibly flavorful. Pictured here is the ‘OG Pepperoni’ which has layered non-cupped slices (why are so many places calling their pepperoni pizza an ‘OG’ now? Are gangsters known for good cured meats?). Really this pizza is an all-time great - my commendations @redlightbardc 👏
