Lucia Pizza of Avenue X

This is a Canal Street outpost of a legendary pizzeria on Avenue X in Brooklyn. Lucia is a slice shop that’s fully on top of their game. We enjoyed a couple of slices on their counter last week (there is no seating).

Like any great pizza, Lucia Pizza’s slices excel due to their expertly crafted crust. The thin, foldable base features a perfect leopard spotting on the underside, signaling a well-executed bake. The crust is crisp along the edges with a light, airy interior that offers just enough chew. It provides a sturdy foundation for the toppings, avoiding any sogginess despite the generous mozzarella. Just what you’re looking for in a New York slice. And of course, the inclusion of cup and char #ronicups, is a favorite touch for me.

These people know what they’re doing: @lucia.newyork produces a top tier sophisticatedly simple New York slice. Highly recommended.
