Jonny’s Pizza

This LES slice shop sits on Orchard just south of Houston. Opened in 2024, it is part of the growing wave of elevated slice shops that are driving New York pizza to new heights. These spots bring advanced bread-making techniques and chef-driven craft to the humble slice …and I’d argue often surpass some of the older, storied (perhaps bordering on tourist-trap) institutions that show up on national “best pizza” lists.

The slice at @jonnyspizzanyc was super thin yet - maybe the thinnest I had on this trip. Yet, it was still structurally sound - foldable but stiff enough to stand straight out when held. Crisp with a touch more chew, the crust had a pronounced char that added a smokey flavor without overwhelming. The base shined thanks to locally sourced cheese, organic tomatoes, and high-quality flour - ingredients that let the dough and bake do the talking. My slice was topped by pepperoni, curled into #ronicups holding tiny pools of oily flavor, giving salty bursts that accented the sauce without dominating. Overall, @jonnyspizzanyc produces a very good slice.
