Norm’s Pizza

An “Avant-Garlic” slice. After a visit to the New York Transit Museum (reasonably priced fun for the whole family! You can explore a 1905 subway car), you may find yourself in need of a slice. Fortunately, Norm’s Pizza sits catercorner.

Norm’s declares “Long Live the Classic Slice!” I would say they offer a classic New York slice done right, with some new wave baking enhancements. The very thin crust is crisp with restrained charring, and despite being super thin, the slice holds up on its own rather than sagging - impressive structural integrity for such a thin slice.

This well named “Avant-Garlic” slice gave a nice balance garlic-forward flavor without overwhelming. Applied in appropriate quantities, the garlic integrates well with roasted mushrooms and fresh herbs in measured proportions. The crisp, charred crust was an excellent texture contrast to those softer toppings.

To quote another Norm: “It takes a powerful imagination to see a thing for what it really is.” Like Mr MacDonald, this slice delivers unexpected depth beneath a deceptively simple surface. If you want a quick slice in NYC, Norm’s is well worth your time.
