Naples Pizza & Restaurant

Just a few miles from the charming summer colony of Long Beach Island, Little Egg is a different world. One step into Naples Pizza, the air thick with oven smells and South Jersey accents denouncing unseen malefactors, and you know this is “the real New Jersey”. I have had Naples Pizza twice now in the last week. So I’ll cut my review into slices, by style:

- 8.7/10 Grandma Slice - They gruffly correct those who call it a ‘Sicilian slice’ (an excellent sign). Grandma style square slices are thinner and typically less dense than their old old world cousins. So, it’s less heavy than it looks. This slice was airy and very flavorful, with a pronounced hint of olive oil. I went with a pesto and red sauce slice - toppings that paired nicely. Overall, this was an excellent slice of pizza.

- 7.3/10 Thin Crust “Jersey Style” - Superficially like a New York slice, but thicker with a more rigid crust and sweet sauce. I had a burrata slice on location and then a plain cheese slice carry out. The extra soft cheese compliments the stiffness of the crust, which in my opinion could have used a bit more flavor. The crust does hold up extra sauce and toppings though, with minimal sag (this slice will stick straight out, as pictured).

Overall, this is a great Jersey slice shop. Naples Pizza & Restaurant - hit it up.
